Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) for Moodle

I was inspired by Mark Muyskens (Calvin College) talk at BCCE about Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) in which he used a Moodle Wiki as an ELN.  So I developed an ELN for Moodle based on the ouwiki.  Students can work either separately or as groups on ELN pages.  Instructors can grade the ELN pages, provide templates of experiment pages and much more.  I've also developed two Atto plugins and a filter to be used with the ELN that allow students to insert chemical structures, timestamps and spectra.

HPLC Experiments for Organic Lab

The following article was in  JCE last fall: A Survey of Industrial Organic Chemists: Understanding the Chemical Industry’s Needs of Current Bachelor-Level Graduates.  It listed HPLC as a highly desirable skill for industry along with the lab techniques we normally choose.  Is anyone doing an interesting HPLC experiment for their courses?( dx.doi.org/10.1021/ed400570f | J. TLC column and synthesis

I don't like our current TLC/Column lab experiments.  I am interested to see if anyone has an experiment that has the students use TLC to determine the best solvent to use in a column to purify the products of a mixture from a reaction (preferably SN1, Sn2, E1, or E2).  They might then use the TLC to see how pure the purification made the mixture. Or following a reaction via TLC, where they have to pick a good solvent system.
